Parenting Support
Supporting parents and caregivers with developing skills to improve family functioning in Sacramento and throughout California.
Does your home feel chaotic or unmanageable?
Maybe you and your child frequently fight, or perhaps they disobey you or the other adults in the home. It could be that there seems to be an increase in talking back or one child is responding to you much differently than another. You may be frustrated with the disrespect, or stuck in how to regain control of your home. Perhaps you’re feeling confused in how you got to this place.
Disobeying rules in the home
One child’s disrespect is rubbing off on their sibling
Chores are not completed (timely)
Avoidance of you in community settings
Tantrums and outbursts in public
Most likely, this is impacting the family system. Maybe it’s keeping you up at night worrying about their relationship with you and the impact long term. Maybe you feel embarrassed in public when there is a tantrum in response to your “no.” Maybe you’re noticing changes in how your other child interacts with you or even other adult family members.
Whatever it is that you’re experiencing, you’re beginning to notice the impact of this in every facet of your life:

Common questions about parenting support

This service can look different depending on the need. If clinically appropriate, I can provide parenting support to the parents of a child being seen by another therapist, I can provide parenting support to the parents of a child I see for therapy, or I can provide parenting support to the parents of a child who is not ready or willing to engage with therapy. I also provide parenting support to parents of all age ranges, not just parents of teens. Parenting support includes a lot of psychoeducation, evidence based practices such as PC-CARE informed techniques, skill development and homework, and validation - because let’s face it, parenting is HARD and there is no instruction manual. If that sounds helpful, please click the link below to schedule a free consultation!

Absolutely! The term “parenting support” is a broad term that applies to skills and education that can be learned and applied in the home to improve the relationships and home dynamics. It’s not just for the biological parent, it’s for anyone stepping in to raise and support the child.

We’ll work together to identify the frequency and duration of sessions and have ongoing discussions about how sessions are going. We can do short-term, skill focused therapy or we take a little longer to process emotions and experiences - this depends on the need and desire and can change.

Common issues addressed in Parenting Support are tantrums and behavior management, teen communication challenges, screen time and boundaries, co-parenting conflicts, school related stress, sibling rivalry, and parental burnout and stress.
Home chaos and disrespect don’t have to be your story.
